Wingman - a mutual friend that goes out on the hunt with you who can provide support and take some of the attention off you. More over, a wingman can cover your wing if bogeys try to shoot you down.

Navigator - a friend who is just along for the ride and has no interest in hooking up with a chick but can advise you and watch your back during the engagement. In addition to, a navigator can literally navigate the next play or tell you what to say to a chick.

Bogeys - Other men who are also trying to pick up chicks.

TRE - Target Rich Environment or a place with tons of ass.

The Carrier - The place you launch the attack from, typically your condo, house or apartment.

Goose - You guy friend who is a faithful navigator but typically whooped by his girlfriend and will only go out on nights his girlfriend is out of town. Nevertheless, a very loyal friend.

Navigator VS Wingman

When you are out cruising out on the town most guys bring a little back up when picking up chicks in either the form of a wingman or navigator. For two decades after Top Gun (1984) most guys choose to bring a wingman when they journey to parties, clubs, dances, bars etc. Recent times have revealed that friendly fire is taking a toll on those who are bringing their friends as wingman when trying to pick up chicks. The following will go into detail explaining the differences, benefits, and overall success of picking a navigator over a wingman when trying to pick up chicks.

Ever since the popular block buster hit Top Gun (1984, pre Tom Cruise melt down), guys have used its lines to describe possible hook up situations with chicks. For the most part, Women have no idea what Top Gun really means or have a clue in understanding the vernacular used in the movie. Guys can speak in code about a situation much like the military does when out on a mission. In this case, the mission is splashing a target of opportunity (chick) and with the help of your wingman or navigator will play a role in your success.

When going out to pick up chicks most guys in the past have often taken a wingman with them on their mission of picking up a chick. Little did they realize that a wingman can actually reduce their personal efforts of a sexual conquest due to competing interests. There is nothing wrong with taking a wingman if you’re the flight leader but a wingman has a mind or rather, a penis of their own.

A wingman is another friend who is capable of firing on your target since he is a separate “aircraft” just like you are. If you can’t get a lock on your target your wingman can try to fire on it, often resulting in a Cock block maneuver. Sometimes a wingman can fly fancier than you can and thus impress the chick you had your sites on and he will take the shot.

A navigator is someone you take with you to advise, give you moral support and check the radar for enemy bogeys. More specifically, a navigator is a guy friend who is typically married, in a serious relationship who has no desire to cheat or stab you in the back or gay (hey, whatever works). This is the root reason why a navigator can not be competition or threaten to have tone on your target because he’s already whipped on another chick. Your navigator basically fill the role that Goose did in the movie Top Gun.

In the opinion of some great pilots, a navigator is a better option to take out on the hunt than that of a wingman. A wingman has his own agenda and although he is on your side, he is looking to splash a pussy bandit before the night is over. In conclusion, a navigator’s role is to do nothing but warn you of enemy fighters, inform you of communications and he can do nothing but make you look good in front of a chick while the wingman is trying to get tone on your target.
